Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in
the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root
bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View
Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai,
Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. South of town,
Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.

- By Air: Umroi Airport in Shillong is the closest airport to Cherrapunji. However, Shillong is only connected to Kolkata by air. The best way to reach Cherrapunji by air is to take a flight to Guwahati Airport, which is well connected to all major cities in India
- By Train: Guwahati Railway Station, which is well
connected to the rest of the country, is the closest railway station to
Cherrapunji. You can easily hire a taxi or board a bus from here to reach
Cherrapunji. Regular trains ply to and from Guwahati Railway Station.
- By Bus: If you want to travel to Cherrapunji by road, you can take a government-run or private bus to Guwahati bus stand, which is located in Paltan Bazaar near the Guwahati Railway Station. From Guwahati bus stand, you can either board a state-run bus or hire a private taxi or rent a sumo to Cherrapunji. Another option to reach Cherrapunji by road is to board a bus to the inter-city bus stand at Shillong, and then take a cab for Cherrapunji. The government-run inter-city buses ply from Police Bazaar in Shillong. You can also board a private bus from the bus station in Polo grounds. Udaipur bus stand is located inside the city.

- By Air: Munnar does not have an airport of its own. The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which is 110 kilometres away by road. From Cochin, you can hire a cab to get to Munnar. The Madurai International Airport is 140 kilometres away from Munnar. In case you de-board at the Madurai International Airport, you can hire a cab or board the state transport or private buses to get to Munnar.
- By Train: The nearest railway station from Munnar is at
Aluva, which is at a distance of 110 kilometres from Munnar. The Ernakulam
Railway Station is 130 kilometres away while the Madurai Railway Station is at
a distance of 135 kilometres. From these points, you can either hire a cab or
board the state transport or private buses wherever available.
- By Bus: State-run or private buses, plying from various towns in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are the best way to get to Munnar by road. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation provides bus services to Munnar from all major cities in Kerala.
Mahabaleshwar is a hill station in India's forested Western

- By Air: Mahabaleshwar doesn’t have an airport in the town itself. The nearest airport is in Pune, which is about 120 kilometres away. You can take a taxi or a bus from here to Mahabaleshwar.
- By Train: While Wathar (60 km) is the nearest railway station from Mahabaleshwar, the most accessible and convenient one would be at Pune. There are plenty of trains going to Pune from Mumbai as well as other major cities across India and you can take a bus or a taxi from Pune to Mahabaleshwar
- By Bus: There are several buses plying between Mumbai and Mahabaleshwar, which is a distance of about 247 kilometers. You will find both state transport as well as private buses from Mumbai and Pune. If you are going from Mumbai, you can catch the bus from Dadar East, Sion or Vashi. The ride will take you roughly six hours.
- Road / Self Drive: If you want to drive from Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar it will take you about 4 to 5 hours depending on the traffic. You have two options in terms of routes – one is to go from Panvel through Mahad and Poladpur; and the other option is to take the Mumbai -Pune expressway and the highway onwards from Pune to Satara. While the distance from the highway would be about 40 kilometers more but the ride is much better and you would actually reach faster
